Jackfruit (Artocarpus heterophyllus)
Jackfruit came from India to Brazil in the XVII century. The existence of this plant in Brazil is being discussed since it acclimatized so well that it wins the race for survival with native species in the Tijuca Forest. Its leaves block sunlight, and since they do not easily decompose when they fall they prevent the germination of other species. This plant is winning the fight in the Atlantic Forest. [1]
