Malay Apple (Syzygium malaccense)
Reproduction
- Flower: red with 4 petals of 7-11 mm long, total diameter of 1 cm
- Fruit: pear form,red when mature and approximately 7 cm long with a thin layer of red skin when mature and white pulp with only one seed inside
- Seed: big, about 1.6-2 cm of diameter, green inside and brown. 5
- The malay apple often reproduces by seeds which loose viability quickly
- As seeds begin germination they will appear to crack open. The roots and main shoot appear from the central portion of the seed. Superior varieties are propagated via budding, air-layering, and cuttings. 4
