Tegu Lizard (Tupinambis teguixin)
The Tegu Lizard is a diurnal animal and is mostly found in the sub tropical regions of South America. The Tegu Lizard is an uncommonly large lizard since it is about 4 feet long. However, when compared to other reptiles such as the aligator it is not that big.
Habitat: Tegu Lizards prefer habitat consisting of heavy jungle and close to river because they prefer to defecate in the rivers and because it is a water source. Most Tegus like to climb long, sturdy branches, driftwood, hollow logs and large rocks please tegu lizars. Their habitats are usually in places with high humidity and rocks for them to hide.The Tegu Lizard lives in low grasses, where they can sunbathe.
