Red Cecropia (Cecropia glaziovii)
The habitat of the red
cecropia requires abundant light to grow, their seeds can remain viable in the
soil for at least two years waiting for a sufficient size gap to occur. The
cecropia is most commonly found in the Americas specifically in the Andean
region, a place regarded as the center of species richness.
It is easily identified by its palmately lobed leaves, the tree consists of very few branches usually like a candelabrum. It is a tall tree reaching up to 5-15 meters tall. [2]
